President's Welcome

Welcome everyone,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Chapter and our new web site! Firstly, congratulations on being invited to join our society. Invitation to Golden Key is extended only to the top 15% of your facility thus in receiving an invite is a great achievement providing recognition for your academic achievements.

Upon becoming a Golden Key member, an important question is what do you want to receive from you membership? Through simply accepting membership you have a certificate and a line on your resume, however your Golden Key benefits can be so much more. As a member you have countless opportunities to participate in both chapter and society initiatives including conferences, professional development workshops, in addition to social and community events. This web site will be constantly updated with upcoming events, as is our Facebook group. Attending these events and getting involved in the Deakin Chapter provides opportunities to you get to meet and socialise with other GK members, further enhance and develop your professional skills and doing your bit for the wider Deakin community. This year’s calendar of events has been our biggest yet, with the chapter running something for everyone across Burwood and Geelong Campuses. Our chapter is continuing to thrive and grow with a bright future ahead!

If you would like to take on a bigger role in the Chapter, you can attend our committee meetings and perhaps take up a position of office. Our meetings are every first Monday of the month and these are a great chance to develop you ‘real world’ skills and build up experience. Participation with the committee and chapter as a whole is highly regarded amongst employers as you are able to manage a role of responsibility whilst maintain high academic results. Joining the committee also gives you the opportunity to attend regional and international Golden Key conferences, with guest speakers, cultural events, and opportunities for social and business networking.

If you have any questions, or would like to be put on our email list for upcoming events, please email us at goldenkey.deakin@gmail.com.
